1835 Holy Bible Pre Civil War – Philadelphia

“For sale is a copy of full leather cover personal copy of antique American Polyglott HOLY BIBLE in excellent binding condition. The copy features full leather cover and is illustrated by four full page steel plate engravings, two before the Old Testament and the other before the New Testament. It is printed in the year 1835 by a publisher named Desilver Thomas located in Philadelphia. The Copy measures 6” by 3.5” for the cover size, roughly 2” thick. The bible is in great antique condition. The front and back cover are both full leather and in good shape. The copy has been part of library collection in the past, so there are a few remaining library index and stickers. Other common age related sign of rubbing is present. See photos. The binding and leather cover is tight. Both hinges where covers meet the spine are in excellent condition. No cracks. No losses. See photos. All pages are complete. No loose pages. Such an excellent preservation state is rare to find for Bibles of this age. There are some foxing, yellowing, staining in this copy, but nothing serious.
